Godfrey Morley to return to Draftfcb CT

Draftfcb Cape Town announced this morning, Tuesday, 4 May 2010, that it has merged its creative departments to form one multi-disciplinary studio with through-the-line capabilities and that Godfrey Morley is returning as the newly restructured agency's MD on 1 June.

Morley, a former Draftfcb Group MD, has been an executive director heading up Thebe Investment Corporation's travel and tourism arm these past three years. Morley will be replacing Brian Stockdale, who is leaving later this year to pursue entrepreneurial interests.

The studio will retain best of breed specialists, however, and will be headed up by current BTL ECD Glynn Venter. Industry icon Francois de Villiers will continue to oversee the creative product in his new role as creative chairman.

There are also changes on the ‘business' side of the agency: the client service, strategy, media and experiential teams have been grouped into what can best described as two ‘mini agencies'.

Comments group CEO, John Dixon: “Godfrey's brand and marketing experience... complements the new structure and client mix. He spent six years at SABMiller culminating in his appointment as head of sponsorship for the brewer. He also served as marketing and communications director for McDonalds South Africa for three years; and as group marketing director at Samsung before joining Draftfcb in 2006.

“Advertising was always his first love; it is what he lives to do. When he left us in 2007, it was for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we couldn't ask him to ignore, and it was always with the understanding that he had a home to return to. That sojourn has come to an end, and we are delighted he has rejoined us.”
