Ntshingila appointed to Absa

Advertising and Marketing guru Happy Ntshingila is the new Absa Group Executive: Marketing and Communications. Ntshingila is an advertising industry veteran and considered a pioneer in the business, having founded HerdBuoys, South Africa's first black-owned advertising agency, in 1991 with Peter Vundla and Dimape Serenyane.

Ntshingila started as a marketing assistant at Unilever in 1983 after graduating from Fort Hare University with a degree in communications and later worked for IBM and Tiger Oats.

In 1987 he joined advertising agency, Ogilvy & Mather Rightford as account manager and four years later started HerdBuoys.

The company later merged with global giant, McCann-Erickson, where Ntshingila was appointed managing director of HerdBuoys McCann-Erikson.

"We are delighted to appoint Happy who brings to Absa leadership expertise in the fields of marketing, information, communications and advertising. His achievements in these sectors are well-known," says Israel Skosana, Absa Executive Director.
