MFSA announces appointment of new CEO

The Marketing Federation of Southern Africa (MFSA) has announced that Mpho Makwana will become the Chief Executive Officer of the recently unified marketing body from 1 July 2003.

Makwana is the former CEO of marketing communications company, Saatchi and Saatchi, and a non-executive director on the Boards of Eskom Holdings and Tourvest. He is also the non-executive chairman of Event Dynamics (Pty) Ltd.

The MFSA is sub-Saharan Africa's largest marketing body and was formed last October following a merger between the Institute of Marketing Management, the Direct Marketing Association and the Association of Marketers.

"It has been a thorough and time-consuming search to find the most suitable candidate to drive the MFSA's chief goals, especially the issue of transformation in the marketing industry and the engineering of marketing excellence. We believe that we have found the ideal person in Makwana," said Jabu Mabuza, chairman of the MFSA's Board of Directors.

Makwana will step into the MFSA's hot-seat in July following a month's vacation in June.
