Job summary

The food and beverage manager at Play Braam will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our food and beverage outlets, ensuring exceptional service and high-quality offerings. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a passion for the hospitality industry. The ideal candidate will drive profitability, maintain high standards, and create a memorable dining experience for our guests.

Key responsibilities

Operational management

• Oversee the daily operations of all food and beverage outlets, including Kitcheners Carvery Bar, The Playground, LOCO, and other Play Braam venues.
• Ensure all outlets operate efficiently and meet company standards.

Quality control

• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
• Implement and monitor food safety and hygiene practices in compliance with local regulations.

Menu development

• Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to design and update menus that reflect current trends and customer preferences.
• Ensure menus are cost-effective and profitable.

Financial management

• Develop and manage budgets for all food and beverage operations.
• Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.
• Implement cost control measures to maximise profitability.

Staff management

• Recruit, train, and supervise food and beverage staff, ensuring a high level of service and professionalism.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

Customer experience

• Foster a customer-centric culture, ensuring guests receive exceptional service and have memorable experiences.
• Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly and effectively.

Inventory and supply chain management

• Manage inventory levels, ensuring timely ordering and efficient use of supplies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best quality and prices.

Event coordination

• Coordinate food and beverage services for events, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
• Work closely with the events team to create customised offerings for special occasions.

Marketing and promotions

• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotions and marketing strategies to attract and retain customers.
• Monitor the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.

Compliance and safety

• Ensure all food and beverage operations comply with health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications and skills

• Proven experience as a food and beverage manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
