Wan-Ifra calls on UK government for critical press freedom
The board of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (Wan-Ifra) has called on the United Kingdom government to address a number of critical press freedom challenges that threaten UK media and risk undermining recent international efforts to prioritise media freedom.
Wan-Ifra made the call on the occasion of the 71st World News Media Congress, 26th World Editors Forum and third Women in News Summit, which took place on 3 June.
The Wan-Ifra board also urged the UK government to make good on its commitment to repeal Section 40 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013.
