New tools to extract data, aggregate campaigns, manage SMS

Three companies have announced new tools for mobile marketing. MicroStrategy has a suite of tools that allow marketers to use their Facebook apps to mine and use customer data anyway they like. Mobius, from Eurocom, is a communication platform that aggregates all digital media within a campaign and NXT\ has launched its revamped NXT\SMS.com bulk SMS portal.

    Mining Facebook

According to MicroStrategy country manager for South Africa, Mark Bannerman, with this suite of tools, brands can effectively monetise social media.

The three solutions, part of the company's social intelligence toolset, work together to allow brands to "listen, learn and act." Its Gateway for Facebook allows brands to track trends and place the information in a rational database. The Wisdom Enterprise enables extraction of valuable market information about Facebook app users, according to criteria such as likes, whereabouts, events, activities and networks.

It allows marketers to segment the app user population. Its Alert adds the marketing and commerce component, giving marketers targeted content distribution tools and allowing them to offer tailored specials, vouchers and news.

    SMS still king

Mobius offers services such as custom SMS campaigns - a campaign element which enables loyalty systems to be created directly with a market.

The data received from SMS can be broken down into bespoke demographics required in terms of consumer information; be it gender, age or background and all SMS initiatives have an opt out option making them CPA compliant. It is a platform aligning social media experiences, customer data-capturing, online billing and reporting services and creative concepts, all designed to keep a brand top of mind in a constantly fluid and mobile market.

When it comes to mobile messaging, NXT\ Digital Innovation understands that the familiar SMS is still king. Despite the rapid growth of other mobile communications channels, consumers still love to send and receive an SMS. The new system features improved navigation, reporting, managing of recipient address books, sending of SMS messages, managing of replies and several new bulk SMS applications. It allows users to customise messages for individual recipients - but still distribute them as part of a bulk SMS.

    One to Many

Enhancements to the online platform include the One to Many application which follows the same concept as the broadcast messages found in BlackBerry Messenger. Not every user has constant access to the internet, but with a cellphone in hand, every user has access to SMS. One to Many therefore allows a user to send bulk SMS's directly from his/her phone to a selected group of recipients, without having to log onto their online user profile. Not only does this service offer incredible flexibility to users on the go, it also ensures control over the right message being sent to the right group of recipients.

Further enhancements include the launch of the Email to SMS service, which gives users the option of creating and personalising a recipient address book and message in an excel spreadsheet. The information from the spreadsheet is then easily imported to the SMS platform - allowing for immediate message distribution to the customised recipient list.

With unlimited access to the platform, users can distribute important customer notifications and personalised reminders.
