This development comes following the decision by PBS Radio management to suspend her after very serious further allegations were reported by Lotus FM staff members to the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and were duly verified by its Internal Audit division.

In the meantime, Afzel Mohamed, PBS: strategy GM, will be caretaker of the station until an acting station manager is appointed. The public broadcaster would like to assure Lotus FM listeners that the station will continue to deliver quality programming.

Samuel's resignation was tendered Monday, 7 September 2009.
