New lifestyle magazines offer bridal, student, Sunday reading

Magazine readers can browse through the new annual bridal guide, True Love Bride, the new sized i Mag lifestyle guide in City Press or the 12th edition of student life, Yes! Lifestyle Mag.

Bridal guide extends to advice

The team that produces True Love magazine has gathered advice for brides that goes beyond gowns, venues and checklists for the big day. It includes South African celebrities, who share their honeymoon snaps, and advice for choosing the perfect destination, advice from columnist Ndumiso Ngcobo on communication, while other features include great reasons to go for counselling before you tie the knot and some important questions to discuss before walking down the aisle.

The editor, Lerato Tshabalala, says, "Fairy tales and romcoms have succeeded in making us buy into the notion that love conquers all. However, once the big day is over - when the dress has been discarded, the last bottle of bubbly disappeared and the guests have gone home - it is then that the real hard work starts.

"Getting married is not about the wedding - it's about the years that follow that single day of celebration - and we wanted to give our readers a bridal guide that equips them with some of the tools that they will need to make a success of the biggest commitment of their lives.

"The magazine is a trusted best friend to women. It was really important to us that we maintain that role in this special bridal issue. So many bridal magazines focus only the fluff and the fantasy of the big day - we felt strongly that True Love Bride should give its readers the kind of insightful and helpful guidance about everything from fashion to relationships that they expect from the magazine every month."

Chatting to Chad

Yes! Lifestyle Mag has just launched its 12th issue, featuring DJ Fresh as the 'King of the Power Nap' on the front cover and an interview with Olympic gold swimmer, Chad Le Clos. The magazine also features a Spring fashion shoot with Cotton On, Anonamiss and Twenty Model Management. The 52-page, glossy magazine that circulates 10 000 copies to high traffic areas and tertiary educational institutes throughout the Western Cape can be seen online at www.yeslifestylemag.com.

Compact yet complete

From 14 October 2012, the size of i Mag, the Sunday lifestyle magazine of City Press, will modify to A4. The compact magazine remains filled with premium lifestyle content including celebrity news, features, fashion and food. City Press GM, Minette Ferreira says, "We operate in an ever-changing environment and the size change is in step with the ebb and flow of our evolving strategies. It has proven to be an invaluable part of the City Press bouquet every Sunday and is integral to our content mix. The magazine will keep on delivering in terms of quality, entertaining content...no matter the size!"
