Interactive broadcast for prospective PRISM Award entrants

The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) has announced that DSTV will be broadcasting a live pre-entry programme in preparation for the public relations and communications industry's most prestigious set of awards, the PRISM Awards, on DSTV, Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 7.30 - 8.30pm.

"In previous years, a number of people were discouraged by the entry process and requirements. We believe this broadcast, free of charge to PRISA and PRCC members, will reduce some of the uncertainty attached to entering the PRISM Awards," says Morné Ebersohn, chairman of PRISA Public Relations Consultants Chapter. "We also urge all members who are able to participate in the programme (including those who may not be entering this year) to do so. The programme provides us with a unique opportunity to highlight industry best practice."

"The PRISM Awards play a critical role in benchmarking the standard of public relations in South Africa. We do not want success stories to go unnoticed because the entry process was seen as an obstacle," adds Ebersohn.

The programme will guide prospective entrants through the entry process, providing step-by-step instructions to produce a successfully completed entry form. It will also highlight what the judges' evaluation criteria as well as give viewers the opportunity to phone the studio with questions.

If you are interested in viewing the broadcast, contact Lorraine at PRISA +27 +11 326 1262 with your Smart Card details or email your smart card details to: susanr@prisa.co.za.

PRISA endorses the PRISM Awards as part of its vision to recognise public relations professionals as significant and influential role players in southern Africa. "We encourage South African public relations and communication practitioners in all sectors to use this opportunity to highlight their best work and successes - and share them with their peers," says Ebersohn.

The award is presented in 23 categories - which depict the diverse disciplines of the industry - and is aimed at public relations and communication professionals who have effectively incorporated strategy, creativity and professionalism into public relations and communication programmes and campaigns.

The deadline for the submission of entries is January 31, 2005, and the winners will be announced at an elegant Oscar-type awards evening to be hosted by the PRCC at La Toscana at Monte Casino on March 17, 2005.
