NEWSWATCH: Apparently about eight - yes eight - policemen were deemed necessary to arrest Sunday Times journalist Mzilikazi wa Afrika yesterday, Wednesday, 4 August 2010, reports IOL, while the heavy-handed approach used by police to arrest the journalists has generated outrage, reports Times Live. On a happier note, Caxton and Moneyweb, the latter has announced, have joined forces to launch a national platform of local community websites.
IOL: 'No press freedom in journo's arrest'... Eight cops to arrest one man - who was in the process of handing himself in anyway? Rather OTT, wouldn't you think?
Times Live: Clampdown feared as journalist arrested... Some observers are concerned that the heavy-handed police action used in wa Afrika's arrest could herald the start of a crackdown on journalists.
Moneyweb: Caxton acquires 34% stake in Moneyweb... Now for something completely different... Internet publishing company Moneyweb Holdings and Caxton Publishers & Printers are going to build, manage and operate an online presence for Caxton-owned community newspapers.
