Nando's ad survey shows youth have sense of humour

In a survey conducted by research company Pondering Panda on MXit, with over 5000 South Africans, 68% believe that Zimbabwean groups that lobbied for Nando's 'Last Dictator Standing' ad to be pulled from television, were unjustified and should have seen the humour instead.
Nando's ad survey shows youth have sense of humour

The Nando's advert features an actor portraying Robert Mugabe; depicting the Zimbabwean president fondly reminiscing over time spent with other recently fallen dictators such as Muammar Gaddafi.

The results showed that the marketing strategy is hitting the mark, with two-thirds of respondents aware of this advert. The clip has had almost 600 000 hits on YouTube since it was uploaded on the 24 November 2011.

"With so many serious issues in the news every day, the youth of South Africa have shown that a sense of humour is imperative," says Butch Rice of Pondering Panda. "All kudos must go to Nando's. The company understands its audience and this is reflected in the hugely positive sentiment that their adverts gain."
