Electronic Technician Assistant

Company: ScenivisionLocation: Villiers, Wilge Toll Plaza (N3), Free StatePosition Type: Mid CareerPurpose:  The principal purpose of this role is to be an assistant plaza Technician in conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on Electronic and Electrical equipment in the toll collection system, maintenance of traffic management peripherals within the toll plaza, carry out plaza related works on instruction from the plaza Technician and to report any serious and malicious damage to TCE equipment to Plaza Technician.

Minimum requirements:
Education & Experience (minimum requirements to perform the job):

• NQF level 5 or higher in Electrical / Electronics / IT related field
• At least 3 years related experience
• Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License
• Knowledgeable on:
  • MIS Electronic Toll Collection System
  • Industrial Networking experience advantageous
  • Plc experience advantageous
  • Understanding operation and maintenance manuals
  • SHEQ compliance and good workmanship practices

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• The Assistant Technician must be able to work in confined spaces elevated and underground.
• The Assistant Technician must be able to work at heights.
• The Technician must drive a motor vehicle according to standards on public roads.
• A regular amount of overtime and standby duties to be performed.
• The work environment characteristics are those encountered on a typical highway and at the toll road environment, as well as at office buildings.
• The work is performed inside and outside buildings.
• Job requires regular medical fitness tests

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting daily and monthly inspections of all toll collection equipment, traffic management peripherals within the Toll Plaza
• Assist in ensuring that all TCE systems are adequately maintained as per procedures and client requirements.
• Attending to minor breakdowns and responding to queries timeously.
• Installation of new equipment, replacement of old equipment and repairs in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company procedure.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic and technical drawings
• Report all incidents in the prescribed manner.
• Keep record of work done
• Provide support and assistance to other departments as and when required to ensure customer service satisfaction and efficiency
• Ensure tools are kept in a good and clean working order.
• Ensure all health, safety and security policies and procedures are always followed.
• Comply with all rules, regulations, as well as maintenance policies and procedures of the company.
• Ensure that all equipment will be in good working order to ensure the Company can comply with all contractual obligations.
• To perform overtime and standby duties as required.
• Assist with overseeing and managing ad hoc projects as and when required
