Roles and responsibilities
- Lecture motion picture producing to students in the second 18 months of the programme.
- Perform required lecturing administration, including lesson plans, registers, marking, and registry compliance.
- Oversee the producing discipline in the second eighteen months of the motion picture programme.
- Create and maintain crew lists.
- Schedule shoot windows based on timetables and available resources.
- Oversee venue bookings and general coordination in the second and third years of the programme.
- Supervise productions in the second eighteen months of the motion picture programme to ensure:
- Productions meet the production parameters and semester or term briefs, maintaining examination integrity.
- During the pre-production phase, all foreseeable risks to the well-being and safety of students, the institution, facilities, and equipment are mitigated and contained.
- Arrange set visits during production windows and liaise with locations and the public around productions to maintain AFDA’s reputation.
- Willingness to adapt to AFDA's curriculum, syllabus, schematics, methodologies, and pedagogy.
- Willingness to adhere to and embody AFDA values.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other teaching staff.
- Excellent time and deadline management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Physically and emotionally adaptable to change.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting is ideal.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to research independently.
- Ability to manage facilities and equipment.
- Capacity to research and adapt to new developments in technology.
- Deliver prescribed curriculum and pedagogical strategies.
- Maintain the prescribed programme timetable and class attendance.
- Complete prescribed programme assignments and assessments.
- Manage and deliver facilities, equipment, and prescribed term projects.
- Communication skills appropriate for interacting with staff, the general public, fee-payers, and students.
- Proficiency in English as the medium of instruction; proficiency in an African language is an advantage.
- Drive and initiative to motivate and guide students.
- Willingness to embrace AFDA’s unique pedagogy, which is the basis of socialised, interdisciplinary learning.

- BA honours in film, motion picture, or a related field.
- Established work experience in tertiary education or training and development (beneficial but not required).
- Industry knowledge of the film/television producing disciplines.
