Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in the BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) and PGCE programmes in the following modules:
Curriculum design
Education studies 2
Education theory, practice and research
Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
Participate in relevant programmes, curriculum, and material development.
Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as the registrar’s Office reasonably requires.
Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments.
Provide academic support to students.
Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
Participate in research and community engagement projects.
Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager
Minimum requirements
At least three years of higher education teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/discipline.
Knowledge and understanding of education studies.
Experience in curriculum and materials development.
Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.
Sound teaching and assessment skills.
Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern information technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
Minimum of a master’s in education or equivalent qualification with relevant study in education.
