Launched ten years ago, the Ogilvy Giants Graduate Programme (OG Programme) has become a cornerstone of youth development in South Africa’s advertising industry. It offers a rare and transformative opportunity for aspiring creatives, strategists, technologists, and marketers to launch their careers at one of South Africa’s most awarded agencies.
In 2024, the programme welcomed 47 rising stars, individuals chosen not just for their academic achievements, but for their bold ideas, unique perspectives, and hunger to create. Over the 12-month journey, participants rotate through various disciplines, working on live briefs, gaining real-world experience, and learning directly from some of the most influential minds in the business.
“The OG Giants Programme is a seismic investment in the future of our industry. It’s about identifying high-potential talent and giving them the tools, mentorship, and opportunity to thrive. For us, it’s not just about filling roles, it’s about shaping the next generation of pioneers who will push our industry forward,” says Angela Madlala, chief people officer at Ogilvy South Africa
Reflecting on the programme's decade-long impact, Madlala adds: “We’re proud to be celebrating 10 years of the programme. This milestone is more than just a number it’s a moment of pride for us at Ogilvy. We are honoured to be developing the leaders, creators, and visionaries who are already transforming
our industry.”
Ogilvy South Africa has seen the OG Giants Programme become a meaningful springboard for emerging talent. Many past participants have gone on to make significant contributions, leading teams, shaping campaigns, and driving innovation across the industry.
PeteCase, CEO and creative chairman of Ogilvy South Africa, concludes: “Ogilvy has helped develop an incredible number of industry giants, which is why we’re often referred to as the ‘University of Advertising.’ As we celebrate 10 years of the OG Programme, we take huge pride in the lasting impact this investment is having on our industry.
