Three PRISA Regional Chapters and Chairpersons appointed

The president of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA), Victor Bongi Sibeko officially launched three regional chapters at a special ground breaking event held on Monday, 06 April 2009 at the SABC Bloemfontein.

The launch was attended by 23 public relations and communication professionals. Welcoming the guests and colleagues, Daphne Mothobi, the newly elected regional chairperson of the Free State said “It all started with an e-mail from the President, Mr. Victor Sibeko. The SABC as a media house and the official broadcaster of 2010 FIFA World Cup is proud to be hosting PRISA in Bloemfontein on the occasion of establishing regional chapters in the Free State, Northern Cape and Lesotho. The partnership is relevant as it resonates with one of SABC's values of building conversations and partnerships.”

During the special meeting, Daphne Keneiloe Mothobi, Patricia Phumelele Tsepane and Matikoe Momo Letsie were unanimously acclaimed as regional chairpersons of Free State, Northern Cape and Lesotho respectively.

Sibeko also insisted on the important role that the regional chapters will have to play in Continuous Professional Development programmes, operating within set standards, good code of practice and ethics. We also expect to see regional participation in the projects such as 2010 National Communication Partnership.
