Creative space available within The Fringe

Harrington House, the trendy and eclectic building situated in Cape Town's fashion node in Barack Street which has attracted tenants in the design, fashion and creative industries, has a rare vacancy that has opened up following the closure of Hip Hop.

This five story office block which has been a feature in the city for the past 80 years forms part of the development The Fringe: Cape Town's Design and Innovation District.

The Fringe was conceptualised to address the need for a location that supports innovation and development in the design, media and ICT (information and communications technology) sectors and has been predicted to become "the premier African environment for design, media and ICT innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship".

The Fringe's boundaries are Roeland and Darling streets, Buitenkant and Canterbury streets, and a strip of land, connecting the area to CPUT from Longmarket through to Tenant Street - an area that is already a lively environment.

Harrington House has tenants such as the Cape Fashion Council, Cape Town Design NPC (Implementation company for Word Design Capital Cape Town 2014), and popular coffee shop The Field Office, which showcases the works of renowned furniture designers Pedersen and Lennard. Harrington House also houses a Creative Enterprises Training Unit.

"The space that have become available in Harrington House offer the ideal location for any Cape Based business within the fashion, design and media sectors," says Sean Paul, managing director of Spire Property Management, which manages the building. "Harrington House is a creative collective in a busy centrally located part of Cape Town that is guaranteed to increase in popularity once The Fringe Development comes online."
