IPL Technical Committee recommends two week rehabilitation for Kamran Khan

Johanneburg, May 3rd 2009 : The Indian Premier League's Technical Committee was convened today to review the suspect illegal bowling action of the Rajasthan Royals left arm medium pace bowler - Kamran Khan. The Technical Committee comprising Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and Lalit Modi - Chairman & Commissioner, Indian Premier League today convened here in Johannesburg and were joined via a conference call by Anurag Thakur and M.A.K. Pataudi from India.

Based on an examination of the match footage obtained, the Technical Committee have recommended a two week rehabilitation for Kamran Khan.

At the game between the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals played out at the Centurion in Pretoria on Thursday, April 30th 2009, the on-field umpires Mr. Rudi Koertzen and Mr. Gary Baxter, had reported the Rajasthan Royals Kamran Khan for a suspect illegal bowling action on certain deliveries. On completion of the match, footage was obtained and examined by all the three umpires including Mr. Amish Saheba who was the TV Umpire for the match and it was decided that further action was necessary under the Laws of Cricket section 24/3 that governs the game. The match referee for the game at the Centurion was Mr. G. R. Vishwanath.

The matter was then referred by the Indian Premier League to the team management of the Rajasthan Royals and the IPL's Technical Committee as per the Laws of Cricket that govern the game.
