Kylie puts on spectacular performance in CT

Kylie Minogue gave Cape Town quite a spectacular show at the Grand Arena on her opening night. She arose as the ethereal Aphrodite from a golden shell on a magnificent stage with talented dancers and high flying aerialists. Building and designing that stage took 500 people and two huge 747s to transport to South Africa.

Kylie's opening songs were from her Aphrodite album and although the music was good, it did not have the largely mature audience moved from their seats. She put on an impressive show, with quick costume changes and non-stop music. It was only until the latter part of the concert that things got really shaken up with a primal Afro-Latin beat introduction to her song, "Better The Devil You Know." She finally ditched her somewhat strange Dolce & Gabbana costumes for denim shorts and a shredded t-shirt. Kylie wiggled and gyrated around the stage and created a wonderful rapport with the audience. She interacted with Cape Town and performed her more popular songs, which got the crowd cheering, stomping and singing along.

This was the Kylie we'd all come to see! During a haunting ballade, Kylie could not keep a straight face as she heard intermittent yells of "We love you, Kylie!" It was obvious why Kylie Minogue remains one of the world's most successful artists with sales of more than 60 million albums and 50 hit singles.
