The series delivers excellent value for money for corporates who want create awareness around their projects and connect and engage with their consumers, audiences and employees. This year the platform is also expanding to include a series of networking dialogues to allow public, private and civil society to engage and share lessons or thinking around marketing of CSI.

"Telkom Foundation and BHP Billiton have signed up as headline sponsors for this series and other blue chips, including Standard Bank," says Sarah Campbell, MD of Kaelo Engage, the producers of the series.

Move away from a top down approach

"Corporates need to move away from a top down approach to CSI and take on board a focussed approach to bottom up value creation for stakeholders. Companies need to target their stakeholders in communicating about CSI but should also start looking at the deeper psychological reasons why stakeholders want to affiliate with a socially responsible company. By understanding this, companies stand to learn a lot," says Campbell.

"The magic and success of the series lies in our storytelling approach. We craft the story from the beneficiaries point of view, ensuring that through the story we highlight the impact the corporate's intervention has had on the broader community," she concludes.
