They are Yusuf Randera-Rees, co-founder and CEO of Awethu; Pat Pillai, founder and CEO of LifeCo UnLtd SA; Greg Maqoma, founder and MD of Vuyani Dance Theatre; Fikile Moeti, radio host and philanthropist; and Kumi Naidoo, human rights activist and former international executive director of Greenpeace.

The Disruptors will focus on the growth of the social enterprise and profile social entrepreneurs who are challenging and redefining the way business is done in South Africa.

"We are very excited to be hosting our first TEDxSalon in Johannesburg. Our theme is a nod to the book, The Disruptors, which is a collection of stories that profile social entrepreneurs in South Africa. This will expand the ongoing discussion on the importance of social entrepreneurship in engendering social and economic change in South Africa,” said Kelo Kubu, convenor of TEDxJohannesburg.

TEDxSalon, an extension of TEDx that affords communities the opportunity to engage outside of the flagship TEDx event, focuses on specific themes or issues of interest, providing a platform and opportunity to spark robust discussions. Because the audiences are smaller compared to standard TEDx events, there are more chances to engage and exchange ideas at a TEDxSalon.
