"Business is all about adding value, and we are getting it right," said Group CEO Matome Modipa, who built the company's success on holistic and integrated business methods for the engineering, leisure and financial services sectors.
Pitting its engineering might against fellow construction company Keren Kula and transport group AB350 from Transkei, it won the Best Established Black Business Award through an application that highlighted its vision, staff empowerment, business growth, operational success and social investment.
Amongst the 10 judges, Vusi Thembekwayo mentioned that, "The calibre of entrants this year has grown leaps and bounds." Other judges included Don Mkhwanazi, dubbed the 'Godfather of Black Economic Empowerment' and Sasol CFO Christine Ramon.
Opening the ceremony was Minister of Mineral Resources, Susan Shabangu, with Geoffery Qhena, who heads-up the IDC, eloquently summing up the spirit of black empowerment today by paying tribute to those who persevere in difficult circumstances. Creating a legacy in fact was a strong underlying theme in the keynote speeches.
