Celebrating foodie mag's 10th birthday

South Africa's 'foodie Oscars', the 2007 Eat Out Restaurant Awards, will take place on Sunday 28 October 2007, at The Rotunda at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town. The event will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Eat Out magazine.

Themed ‘Cirque Culinaire', the Eat Out Awards will pay tribute to South Africa's top culinary talent at this gourmet extravaganza, in association with Johnnie Walker Gold, Green & Black's, Mumm Champagne and BBC Food.

Guests will dine in fine style, courtesy of three of South Africa's talented chefs, Nic van Wyk, Pete Goffe-Wood and Richards Carstens, who, together with the host, The Bay Hotel executive chef Morné Botha, will present a delectable four-course meal, paired with top award-winning wines to transport diners straight to foodie heaven.

Ringmaster and Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be comedian Marc Lottering, and adding to the culinary buzz will be a circus-themed entertainment line-up.

Following an extensive judging process together with a team of ‘taste detectives', Eat Out Awards convener and editor of Eat Out Abigail Donnelly will reveal this year's Eat Out Restaurant of the Year; Eat Out Chef of the Year; the Eat Out Top 10 Restaurants; the Eat Out Service Award; Eat Out Lifetime Achievement Award; and the Woolworths Taste Bursary Award, an endeavour that ensures that budding culinary talent is recognised, nurtured and developed.

Guests will be the first to receive copies of the new 2008 edition of Eat Out magazine, which will be launched at the awards evening. Eat Out 2008 will not only provide inside information on the winning restaurants and chefs, but will also shine the spotlight on over 800 of the ‘best restaurants in SA' in this glossy, 10th anniversary issue.
