Bosch Holdings appoints new chief executive

Michael Gibbon has been appointed chief executive of leading multi-disciplinary consulting, project engineering, construction and operational management group Bosch Holdings. Formerly managing director of Bosch Projects, Gibbon will take up his new position on 1 February 2012. He will replace current chief executive, Clive Swaisland, who is stepping down to pursue personal interests.

Gibbon completed his mechanical engineering degree at the then University of Natal and, after working at Illovo Sugar, he joined Bosch Projects in 1997 as senior project engineer. In 2000, he was promoted to director of the sugar business unit and, in 2003, he became managing director of Bosch Projects.

Swaisland's career spans 38 years with Bosch Holdings. Appointed managing director of Bosch Projects in 1995, he went on to become chief executive of Bosch Holdings in 2001. Swaisland has been credited with creating the foundations for future growth as a diversified group of three operating companies that well on its way to establishing both a strong national and international footprint.
