2008 Recruiter of the Year winners

The winners of this year's Recruiter Of The Year titles in the fifth Annual Junction Awards held late last week are Kelly, Emmanuels Advance and Deloitte Consulting. The awards honour recruitment agencies that have displayed outstanding and exemplary recruitment practices to the career seekers.

Enthused Kim Meszaros, marketing manager of Kelly, “We are overwhelmed, excited and it's an honour for us to be recognised by CareerSeekers. This is the third consecutive year as The Recruiter Of The Year; we are definitely doing something right.”

Added Hein Weyers, marketing manager, Emmanuels Advance, “We are overwhelmed with the response from the candidates. It goes to show what we put in, will always be remembered by CareerSeekers.”

Registered CareerJunction CareerSeekers had the opportunity to vote for the recruitment agencies that had in their opinion, excelled in personal service, understanding their career requirements, advice and guidance, negotiations, securing interviews and placement and post placement advice. This year over 6000 CareerSeeker nominations were cast, which is double the amount compared to last year's nominations.

The 2008 Awards were again divided into three categories - small, medium and large. The agency size is determined by the average number of jobs they advertise on CareerJunction over a period of six months.

Large Agency


  • Winner: Kelly
  • First runner-up: DAV Professional Placement Group
  • Second runner-up: Quest Flexible Staffing Solution

Medium Agency


  • Winner: Emmanuels Advance
  • First runner-up: PAG - Professional Assignment Group
  • Second runner-up: Accountants On Call

Small Agency


  • Winner: Deloitte Consulting Business Processing Outsourcing
  • First runner-up: 20Twenty Recruitment
  • Second runner-up: Abantu Resources

CareerSeekers who participated in the voting process were also rewarded. Ronesh Kandhai from Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, was randomly selected to win the ThinkPad T61 Laptop sponsored by First Distribution, worth over R10 000.

Sowetan and Sunday World were once again sponsors for the third consecutive year. “Our partnership with CareerJunction extends beyond these awards to providing comprehensive advertising solutions to the recruitment industry,” said the newspapers' acting publisher, Jason Sequeira.

The results of the 2008 Junction Awards were audited by registered auditors Nexia Levitt Kirson.

The event took place at the Theatre on Track in Kyalami, Johannesburg, on 21 August 2008.
