ICASA, World Consumer Rights Day

World Consumer Rights Day, on 15 March 2010, is to be supported by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) as an opportunity for consumers to raise the challenges they experience within the communications sector about broadcasting, postal and telecommunications (fixed-line and mobile phone) services.

In taking part in the campaigns, ICASA will be engaged in a month-long presentations in March 2010 in all nine provinces. In these presentations, it will:

  • Educate consumers about the mandate of ICASA;
  • Inform consumers about their rights in the ICT sector;
  • Make consumers aware of the regulations;

    • End User and Subscriber Service Charter;
    • Code of Conduct for broadcasters;
    • Code on People with Disabilities;
    • Broadcasting and Postal licensing;
    • Consumer Complaints Procedures.

    The authority is proud to be part of these campaigns and is committed to imparting knowledge to consumers about their rights within the electronic communications, broadcasting and postal services.
