Marketing Manager – Acornhoek and Bushbuckridge AreaAbout Us
Emerge Marketing is a leading retail marketing agency managing some of South Africa and Africa’s most prominent shopping centre brands. We create meaningful, measurable marketing strategies that connect people, places, and purpose. Our work spans across shopping centre marketing, social media, events, public relations, and community engagement.
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and hands-on Marketing Manager to join our team and take responsibility for marketing activities in the Acornhoek and Bushbuckridge area, focusing on regional shopping centres within our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement annual marketing plans and monthly campaign calendars.
Manage marketing budgets, supplier relationships, and campaign reporting.
Drive community-focused marketing initiatives that connect local audiences with our tenants.
Oversee social media content creation, posting, and engagement.
Plan and execute in-centre activations, promotions, and events.
Engage directly with tenants, landlords, and stakeholders to ensure all marketing objectives are achieved.
Manage PR, design briefs, and production timelines with internal and external partners.
Analyse campaign performance and present marketing reports with measurable outcomes.
Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail, shopping centre, or FMCG marketing.
Strong understanding of community-based marketing and local engagement.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously under pressure.
Must have own reliable transport and be willing to work weekends or public holidays during activations.
Proficiency in MS Office and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).

Strong Communication Skills – Ability to engage confidently with tenants, landlords, and the local community.
Creativity and Innovation – Bringing fresh, locally-relevant ideas that appeal to Acornhoek and Bushbuckridge shoppers.
Adaptability – Comfortable working in a dynamic, community-driven retail environment with shifting needs.
Leadership and Team Coordination – Managing on-site teams, GROs, and external partners to execute campaigns effectively.
Cultural Awareness – Deep understanding and respect for the local culture, shopper behaviours, and community values.
Relationship Building – Building trust with tenants, schools, NGOs, and small businesses in the area.
Microsoft Office Suite – Especially Excel (budgets) and PowerPoint (reporting/presentations).
Canva / Basic Design Tools – Useful for quick turnarounds when head office design support isn’t immediately available.
Meta Business Suite – For managing and monitoring social media pages and ad campaigns.
Google Drive / Sheets / Docs – Collaboration with the Emerge HQ team.
Photography and Content Eye – Knowing what works visually for local audiences, even if not a professional photographer.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Budget discipline and understanding of marketing ROI.
A hands-on, proactive personality — willing to “get stuck in.”
Confidence to represent the centre professionally in community forums or on local radio.
Ability to work weekends and public holidays when events take place.
Own transport and a valid driver’s licence.
