      Sales and Marketing Manager

      The sales and marketing manager will lead and improve the performance of both Internal and External Sales teams, including the integration of the DRC office into the broader Sales Department. A key responsibility is to drive The Company's strategic growth across South Africa and targeted African markets—Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe—by leveraging existing networks in the mining and industrial sectors in the DRC and South Africa.

      This role focuses on expanding The Company's presence in new territories, identifying opportunities, and building sustainable business relationships. The manager will develop and implement sales strategies, track performance, analyse market trends, and align sales efforts with regional demands. Responsibilities include setting targets, managing training schedules, and ensuring all sales tools are optimized.
      As the central figure in sales initiatives, the manager will oversee detailed planning, resource allocation, and goal achievement. Strong skills in strategy, leadership, budgeting, and analysis are essential. The ideal candidate is a results-driven communicator and proactive problem solver.

      Additional duties include contract negotiations, supporting marketing campaigns, adjusting sales targets, and overseeing inventory, vendor relations, and operational compliance. Cross-functional collaboration is key to streamlining processes, improving customer retention, and growing The Company's footprint across Africa.

      • Business Development Strategy and SOP’s developed and approved to establish markets and support the vision, mission and values of the company.
      • Marketing material kept current and checked regularly.
      • Product launches effectively managed.
      • Prospect lists identified.
      • Prospects are engaged with, and solutions proposed to them accurately and to best practice.
      • Client needs accurately assessed and timeously.
      • Sales targets achieved through successful establishment of relationships with prospects.
      • All opportunities for upselling identified and solutions proposed.
      • Existing clients visited are engaged and with intent of retention.
      • Support, guidance, and information provided to existing clients.
      • All clients are made aware of new product developments to ensure client order volumes are maintained and grown.
      • Client satisfaction meets target.
      • Client concerns understood, managed and resolved timeously.
      • Performance against SLA’s is monitored, and issues are flagged and resolved.
      • All sales targets are achieved.
      • Gross Profit margin is achieved.
      • Accurate Sales reports provided timeously to management.
      • All employees are aware of the company’s Vision, Mission and Value statements.
      • Behaviour is consistent with company values.
      • Vacancies are filled with suitably qualified employees within 30 days.
      • Employees have signed off their Role Descriptions.
      • Performance Appraisals captured on company Performance Management System by due date.
      • Training needs are identified and forwarded to HR department.
      • All employees have personal development plans in place.
      • Disciplinary matters initiated and resolved.
      • Key staff are retained and succession plans submitted to HR department.
      • Innovative ideas presented to management for review.
      • Personal Development Plan in place and followed.

      Work Activities and Responsibilities
      • Lead and manage Internal and External Sales Teams, including integration of the DRC team.
      • Build and implement structured sales systems, quality procedures, and reporting frameworks.
      • Research and develop a strategy for expanding into the South African market, supported by a strong sales team.
      • Recruit, train, mentor, and assign territories to the right sales talent.
      • Create sales plans, analyse data, and report progress to management.
      • Ensure all outgoing products meet required specifications.
      • Maintain strong relationships with existing OEM partners and identify new OEM opportunities during DRC visits.
      • Oversee sales coordination, including schedules, documentation, and communication.
      • Delegate leads, support administrative tasks, and schedule client engagements.
      • Keep the team motivated and well-equipped with sales materials.
      • Respond to customer queries, manage complaints, and provide after-sales support.
      • Maintain secure sales records, reports, budgets, and metrics.
      • Ensure timely and accurate processing of quotes and orders.
      • Manage changes to orders, shipping, and client communication.
      • Identify areas for improvement and propose actionable solutions.
      • Support promotional events and marketing initiatives.
      • Ensure compliance with all legal and company policies.
      • Actively engage in selling, acquiring new clients, and nurturing existing relationships.
      • Handle vendor registrations and approvals in South Africa and other African markets.
      • Drive The Company’s strategic growth into new African regions (Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe).
      • Negotiate long-term contracts with customers and partners.
      • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless operations.
      • Support marketing campaigns that align with sales goals and market trends.
      • Manage supplier relationships, inventory levels, and vendor performance.
      • Improve customer retention by aligning offerings with customer needs.
      • Monitor profitability and adjust strategies to drive growth and margin improvements.
      Skills and Requirements:
      • Grade 12
      • Diploma / Degree in Sales and Marketing
      • Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering is advantageous
      • 10+ years of proven work experience in a sales-related field, procurement, sales administration, and related fields, preferably within a technical, engineering, or industrial sector
      • Technical product knowledge essential
      • Excellent understanding of the Electrical Engineering environment
      • Training in consumer shopping habits, leadership skills, management and marketing strategies is beneficial
      • Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and a proactive problem-solving attitude
      • Excellent knowledge of freight forwarding and import and export rules and regulations
      • Advanced sales and customer service skills
      • Ability to analyse consumer data to optimise sales efforts
      • Knowledge of trends and regulations within the industry/sector
      • Excellent leadership and coaching abilities
      • Able to work with other department heads to develop effective marketing strategies
      • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Skilled in staff optimisation and team development
      • Budgeting, budget forecasting and budget management
      • Strategic thinking
      • Stress management
      • Fluent spoken and written English ~ French an advantage
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently and well in a team, and perform under pressure
      • Excellent computer skills
      • Knowledge of the mining sector, both in South Africa and the Sub-Sahara African regions will be an advantage
