Senior Data Analyst

Key responsibilities:

• Perform in-depth data analysis, profiling, and validation across multiple squads and value chains.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, define, and translate business data requirements into actionable technical solutions.
• Analyse data flows, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and document insights to enhance downstream processes.
• Conduct data testing, error resolution, and lifecycle validation to ensure high-quality data outputs.
• Recommend and implement data provisioning enhancements, including cleansing, transformation, and validation processes.
• Define data standards, detect data quality issues, and drive data cleansing initiatives.
• Optimize self-service data access to improve user experience and business intelligence capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior analysts, oversee team activities, and conduct quality reviews.
• Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to extract meaningful insights and improve data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications and experience:

• Advanced diploma or national first degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
• BSc or BEng preferred.
• Certifications in data analysis, data modelling, Cloud (Azure/AWS), DevOps.
• Experience in data warehousing, profiling, and governance.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., Ab Initio, ADB, ADF, SAS, ETL).
• Strong knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, IBM DB2, HBase, MongoDB).
• Programming skills in python, R for data analysis and AI applications.
• Exposure to cloud data engineering (Azure, AWS, Google).
• Experience with AI and machine learning to enhance predictive analytics and data intelligence.

The reference number for this position is NG60279 which is a permanent position in Johannesburg offering a salary of R700,000 up to R900,000 per annum negotiable based on experience.
