Job description

• Lecture and assess contact learning students in the B. Ed. Foundation Phase Programmes and Intermediate Phase Programmes in the following modules:
  • Economic Management Sciences
  • Fundamental Mathematics
  • Teaching Natural Science and Technology
  • Teaching Practice Intermediate Phase
• Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
• Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
• Participate in relevant programme, curriculum and material development.
• Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
• Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
• Provide academic support to students.
• Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
• Participate in research and community engagement projects.
• Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
• Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
• Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
• Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
• Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.

• At least 3 years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution.
• Knowledge and understanding in the relevant phase Foundation Phase and/or Intermediate Phase.
• Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.

• Sound teaching and assessment skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
• High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to cope with change.
• Willingness to work when required on Saturdays
