Data Analyst

As a data analyst, you will be responsible for preparing and visualising data for analytical and operational use. You will also assist, where possible, in building systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information business stake holders can interpret. Ultimately, your goal is to make data accessible so that Tech X can use it to evaluate and optimize key business strategies and performance.

Please note that this is a Cape Town based role and requires the candidate to be located in or around Cape Town.

The Tech Stack

Tech X operates mainly as a Java house with our front end built on Next.js running both on premise and in the cloud respectively. While Java and Next.js are at our core, we use a range of technologies, frameworks and services. Included in the stack is, but not limited to, the following:

Frontend: JSP, Java Swing, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Javascript, React.js, Redux
Backend: Spring, EHCache, PostgreSQL, Go, Node.js, Bash
Tools, services, etc.: Git / Gitlab, AWS EB / EC2, S3, Route53, Cloudfront, API Gateway,

Lambda, Cloudflare, Docker / Portainer, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Redash

The technical and qualification requirements

Core:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience of working with SQL queries.
• Proven experience of refactoring and performance tuning database systems and queries.
• Proven experience of working on ETL and data pipelines.
• Strong growth mindset and the motivation to continuously improve self and team performance.
• Ability to work autonomously, as an individual and as part of a team.

Advantageous:

• Software engineering experience.
• Experience with setting up, optimising, and maintaining data lakes. Experience with tools such as Superset, Redash, Metabase, etc. Experience with AWS Data related services.
• Relative IT degree/diploma/certifications.
• Fintech / e-commerce experience.
