Head of Studio

A creative leader with a strong understanding of digital imagery technology is required to join a market leader. The head of the studio will provide vision, leadership, and operational management in the development and implementation of the studio.

This analytical individual, with a detailed understanding of the South African brand and retail landscape, will be responsible for:

• Providing leadership, management, planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the photography, retouching, verification, and production teams.
• Facilitating communication between staff, management, vendors, customers, and other imagery resources within the greater business.
• Overseeing back-office systems to ensure inter-division alignment.
• Designing, implementing, and evaluating people, equipment, and systems to support current business needs, considering seasonality and new projects.
• Overseeing and evaluating workflows and backup procedures.
• Driving an entrepreneurial culture in the studio and significantly growing the business by exposing its capabilities to potential clients.
• Quality control, budgets/contracts, creative content, production, systems administration/reporting, planning/policy development, and client retention.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience, with at least five years at a management level within a studio and/or agency.
• Significant experience in a retail-centric environment is desirable.
• A detailed understanding of the South African brand and retail landscape.
• Knowledge of retail-related imagery requirements.
