2026 Internship - AI & Automation Software Developer

We're seeking a junior software developer passionate about AI, automation, and data engineering to join our technical team. You'll work with modern development practices, generative AI tools, and real-time data systems while solving diverse automation challenges - from marketing campaign optimisation to internal workflow automation and data processing pipelines.

Role and Responsibilities
Core Development (80%):

• Design and build intelligent automation systems for marketing platforms and general business workflows
• Develop workflow automation tools to streamline internal operations and processes
• Create API integrations with major platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok, etc.) and maintain them as APIs evolve
• Build generative AI scripts and integrate LLMs into automation workflows across various use cases
• Engineer data pipelines and ETL processes for large-scale data processing
• Implement event tracking systems for web and mobile applications
• Develop BI dashboards and AI-powered reporting tools
• Create data cleaning and transformation scripts using modern data tools
• Act as technical analyst to architect scalable software solutions for diverse automation needs
• Stay current with emerging APIs, AI developments, and automation frameworks

Domain Application (20%):

• Apply your automation tools to campaign management and business process scenarios
• Learn digital platform ecosystems and business operations to inform better technical solutions

Requirements:

• Must be Cape Town-based 
• Qualification in programming and a 3-year Degree or Diploma or NQF Level 6 National Certificate.  
• Proficiency in: JavaScript, Python. 
• Knowledge of PHP or working on platforms such as WordPress and Magento would be beneficial.
• Experience with SQL, HTML and CSS.
• A passion for Digital Marketing and a desire to specialise in PPC
• Excellent attention to detail
• Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Collaborative Team Player
• Personal laptop capable of supporting daily work tasks
• Reliable internet connection suitable for video calls and online collaboration
• Access to a quiet, private workspace (no public areas such as cafés) 

The Internship:

• This is a 12-month program commencing in January 2026 in Plumstead, Cape Town. (Remote but appliucant must reside within the Western Cape)
• We provide comprehensive training and the opportunity to complete all Google Ads and Facebook certifications.
• There will be quarterly salary reviews, with increases based on performance.
