Celebrating Youth Month with Varsity Vibe - Empowering the Future
In December 2023, we conducted our annual Student Spend Survey to understand the financial landscape affecting students. The survey, which garnered responses from over 11 300 Varsity Vibe users, revealed that 87% of respondents expressed concerns about their financial situations. This underscores the critical need for initiatives that ease the financial burdens on students.
Varsity Vibe is dedicated to alleviating some of this financial strain by providing members with access to great deals and discounts across a wide range of products and services. In 2023, our efforts resulted in student members saving a staggering R41.6 million, marking an impressive 244% increase from the previous year.
“To put last 2023’s numbers into perspective, we were basically able to give each of the 1m university students in SA a drink in 2023! That’s a big celebration. It’s been a long journey but it’s starting to come together very nicely,” says Dino Talotti, CEO of Varsity Vibe.
The momentum has continued into 2024, with an exciting 150% growth over the already impressive benchmarks set in 2023. The average savings per transaction has also increased significantly, with students saving R91.33 per redemption compared to R79.20 in 2023 and R72.14 in 2022. These figures reinforce the incredible value Varsity Vibe offers to young people.
As the cost of living continues to rise, Varsity Vibe remains committed to identifying and bridging gaps in financial accessibility for youth and students.
