The deadly coronavirus continues to dominate the headlines internationally and the Department of Health announced its readiness for the epidemic should it land on our shores. However, it was met with humour and fake news being shared about the virus.
Load shedding continued this week with power utility Eskom implementing rotational power cuts nationwide. In other news sick notes came under scrutiny following former president Jacob Zuma's submission of a sick note to skip court, prompting the court to issue a warrant of arrest for the former statesman.
Finance Minister Tito Mboweni also dominated conversations on Twitter and the media this week, not for his cooking this time around, but by tweeting a photo of his hemp farm, taunting police to arrest him. While still on the microblogging site, former DA leader Mmusi Maimane and current interim leader, John Steenhuisen went toe to toe this week.
