Global Journalism Emergency Relief Fund launched by GNI amid pandemic
The Google News Initiative (GNI) has set in motion a Journalism Emergency Relief Fund to aid small, medium and local news publishers on a global-scale.
The funding is open to news organisations producing original news for local communities during the pandemic and will range from the low thousands of dollars for small hyper-local newsrooms to low tens of thousands for larger newsrooms, with variations per region.
Publishers can apply for funds via an application form. The closing date for applications is on 29 April at 11.59pm PT.
