    Car magazine gets interactive

Car readers can now order one of the magazine's road tests simply by sending a text message. And this is just one of a range of added-value services Car is offering its 915 000 readers (AMPS 2004B) to extend the brand into the marketplace.

Readers supply their email addresses and reference codes for the relevant tests (found on the CARtoday.com website) and receive electronic pages of the tests exactly as they appear in the magazine. The service is available through the MTN and Vodacom networks at a cost of R20.

Supplements on Buying a car, Passing Your Learner's (the K53 test) and an Accessory and Gift Guide provide strong incentives to purchase the magazine over the next few months, while competitions and promotions put readers in line to win more than R500 000 between now and December. Included in the prizes is a Subaru Forester TX worth R350 000 in Car's subscription drive.

The magazine will enable one F1 enthusiast to spend time as a co-driver in the Grand Prix Masters, while R60 000 in gold tickets to the event will be available to readers.

Car is also hosting a quest to find SA's PlayStation F1 champion. Regional finalists will slug it out to claim the title and win a cash prize of R10 000, together with PlayStation paraphernalia.
