Victoria met with hopeful girls and young women to spread HIV free messages, reminding them that they are beautiful and powerful and inspiring them to follow their dreams and dream big like she did.
The event formed part of a greater campaign by CHOMA called Inspiring Positive Change and created the opportunity for young girls to share their hopes and dreams with Victoria, and Isibaya star and CHOMA ambassador, Nomzamo Mbatha, who was also in attendance. As a lasting motivator to achieve their dreams and to remain HIV free, these aspirations where translated onto a collaborative graffiti wall, directed by artist Sheldon Wins.
CHOMA is an interactive magazine bringing females between the ages of 15 and 25 living in vulnerable communities relevant and engaging content about love and relationships, inspiration, health, fashion and beauty directly to their mobile phones. The platform aims to engage this target market on Facebook, Mxit, Twitter and Mobi in a way that inspires and empowers them to be the next HIV free generation. CHOMA currently has over 580,000 subscribers.
Anne Aslett, Executive Director at the Elton John AIDS Foundation who accompanied Victoria on the trip, said: "It was fantastic to see how Victoria connected with young women, young mothers and their children. Her energy and commitment to engage and learn from everyone we met was inspiring. I want to personally thank Victoria for the recent trip and we have many plans to work with her again in the future."
The public can look forward to more creative interventions from CHOMA with the build up to World Aids Day on 1 December, which are set to not only enable positive behaviour change but also, educate and inspire.
