Commented station manager Helen Graham, “I'm confident that the addition of Justine's outstanding media experience to the strength of the current 5FM marketing team will result in more exciting brand marketing initiatives for 5FM.”

Cottrell joins 5FM from RedCube Porter Novelli, where she managed publicity accounts for clients that included Samsung, Cadbury, Spitz, Lacoste, the Kimberly-Clark group of products and Debonairs Pizza. Prior to that, she held a business management, development and writing position at John Vlismas' group of companies, after having graduated from Rhodes University's Journalism School, where she cut her radio teeth as a talk show host for Rhodes Music Radio.

Cottrell had this to say about joining the 5FM family, “I am thrilled! I've been listening to 5FM since before I bought my first CD, so in a way it feels like a long-time companion is now the focus of my career attention.”

She already has plans for 5FM, which includes maintaining the growth trajectory the station has established through continuous brand innovation and building targeted regional visibility of the station, which has a past 7 Day audience of 1.65million and climbing.
