SWOP releases on DVD

In the locally produced SWOP a “Black Diamond'” (“Black Diamonds" are categorised as black South Africans, wealthy or salaried in "suitable" occupations, who are well educated and credit-worthy, and own or are acquiring homes, cars and household goods) trades lives with a street savvy foreigner.

An outrageous bet between two wealthy fat-cats set the wheels in motion for an outcome that changes the lives of everyone involved.

Brian Zwane (Aubrey Poo) has worked hard and finally has it all - the job, the car, the house, the gorgeous fiancé - but then his bosses decide to turn the tables and see what could (and does) happen when they take it all away from him and hand it to the savvy Tendai Lufuno Phiri (Kabelo ‘K.B.' Ngakane), a Zimbabwean street hustler.

A series of hilarious events unfold that land Brian in the ghetto and Tendai in the boardroom. Does Brian turn to crime as his bosses expect? Will Tendai manage to score the R200 million deal for the company? Will they find each other and discover they've been ‘swopped' before it's too late?

Aubrey Poo (Scandal) and KB (Big Brother) star in this South African comedy about making it big in modern-day South Africa. The cast includes Tumisho Masha (Jozi H), Dawn Matthews (Scandal), Clint Brink (Scandal), Thuli Thabete (City Sesla), Mampo Brescia (Jacob's Cross), Brandon Auret (Isidingo), and Grace Mahlaba (Backstage).

Directed by Hlomla Dandala (Jacob's Cross, Isidingo, Tsha Tsha, Gaz'lam), and written by Charlie Sapadin (Rhythm City, The Lab, Hard Copy, Tsha Tsha, Gaz'lam), SWOP is the first release from Dark Continent Pictures, a production company committed to telling African stories for African audiences with the best talent Africa has to offer. The movie was filmed within 10 days and made for DVD in order to keep the costs down, making the DVD an affordable proudly South African product to own.

SWOP has been re-released with bonus features and is available on DVD, courtesy of Fireworx Marketing & Distribution (FMD) and Next Video at retail outlets across the country and informal sellers in and around Johannesburg.
