Sport sponsorship gets its own indaba

In recognition of the high power of sports sponsorship and marketing, the first fully focused Sports Sponsorship Indaba will take place on Friday, 27 January 2012, at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset, Cape Town. A main topic of discussion will be Government's plan to ban alcohol marketing that will have an adverse effect on sports sponsorships such as the J&B Met.

Organised by Promedia, it will feature participation of key sponsorship decision makers from Nedbank, Absa, Canterbury, Primedia Sport, Super Sport, Octagon, Brand Inc, Maverick Experience Exhilarator, SAIL, BMI Sport Info and others considered to be the "who's who" of South Africa's sponsorship arena.

Representatives of these companies will act as panel hosts and speakers to add to the overall aim of creating value for the delegates. The indaba will be attended by a diverse profile of delegates ranging from municipal sports development officers, executives from clubs, associations and federations, sports agencies as well event organisers and professional franchises.

Main objective

The main objective is for delegates to 'take-out' the key principles of what is required to structure and develop 'win-win' sponsorship relationships through a common understanding of what it is, 'what sponsors want' and what sports' entities 'have to offer'.

The key themes will be presented through sessions that focus on how sports bodies and projects should structure their sponsorship proposals, how brands can enter or consolidate their position within the sponsorship arena and the role of agencies when negotiating sponsorship deals.

All paid delegates will also receive a single general entrance ticket to the J&B Met taking place on Saturday 28 January 2012 in Cape Town.
