A world record to suit SA

The Kit Group plans to unveil the largest work suit at Johannesburg Stadium in March 2010, to be adjudicated and verified by the Guinness World Records organisation. The company, a leading South African uniform solutions specialist, has put the wheels in motion to begin manufacturing the largest work suit in an attempt to break the current world record.

The existing record is held by a company in India, which created history in 2001 by unveiling the world's largest work suit weighing over 200kg, measuring in at almost 21m and made out of a whopping 140m of fabric.

After months of research and planning, a dedicated team has been set up to concentrate on producing a new world-record work suit with the involvement of local CMTs (Cut, Make and Trim factories) and textile manufacturers.

Homage to industry

"There are a number of issues the group want to highlight through this project, which include drawing the attention of other industry players to the plight of local textile mills and to demonstrate that they are able and capable of producing world quality fabric," says the Kit Group CEO, Joe Pereira.

"In addition, we want to pay homage to the thousands of construction workers and security officers who have played, and are still playing their role, in building the country's stadiums and various other infrastructures and providing the necessary security in the run up to 2010. This is our way of creating awareness of the importance of the work these people are doing on a daily basis and to say thank you and well done," concludes Pereira.
