New Typek identity reflects Sappi's commitment to sustainability

Graphic Repro On-line reports that Sappi Southern Africa has re-launched the Typek brand, a popular brand in offices, schools and homes, and readily available through most retailers and stationers. Typek's distinctive red and white packaging has now been updated and refreshed to more visibly reflect Sappi's commitment to sustainability.

"Market research highlighted the fact that consumers increasingly identify with environmental endorsements used on packaging," said Alex Thiel, chief executive officer, Sappi Southern Africa.

"Consumers can be assured of Sappi's commitment to minimise our impact on the environment," Thiel said, "Our trees are grown to be harvested so that we can create value-adding products from them." Typek's new identity gives it a vibrant personality and consumers can create positive associations beyond the product features and functions. The new wrapper material is not only designed with visual appeal and to protect the integrity of the product, but is also recyclable and biodegradable.

First launched in 1991, Typek is produced locally at Enstra Mill in Springs, near Johannesburg, and is ISO accredited and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, meaning that the wood fibre used is sourced from well managed and responsible sources. "By buying a locally manufactured paper, consumers can reduce their carbon footprint and help to sustain local job opportunities," Thiel told Graphic Repro On-line.
