Time to design Cape Town's Global Pizza

The annual Global Pizza Challenge is calling Capetonians now to enter their most creative and delicious pizza recipes and win cash prize of R10,000 from sponsor Tabasco or the prestigious honour of representing South Africa in the global finals in Australia. There are five categories: poultry or meat, seafood, vegetarian, speciality or dessert, plus the bonus Tabasco category.

The competition is open to Cape Town-based chefs or pizza-makers in a stand-alone pizzeria, restaurant, takeaway outlet or hotel, with a pizza recipe to knock the judges' socks off. A panel of internationally recognised chefs will assess all recipes. Judging criteria include originality, balance, creativity and 'excitement factor'. Approximately 30 Global Pizza Challenge finalists will be selected and invited to recreate their recipes in a cook off at Hostex Cape Town from 21-23 May 2014.

The overall Global Pizza Challenge winner will be flown to Melbourne, Australia to compete against entrants from 15 other countries in the international 2014 Global Pizza Challenge finals, while the winner of the Tabasco category wins R10,000 cash.
