The top mens and ladies teams will be riding with GoPro cameras to bring you all the on-bike action of this year's race. GoPro cameras will also be used on several other amateur teams including the celebrities riding for Team Absa: District 9 actress Vanessa Haywood, Springboks Corne Krige, Tiaan Strauss and Joel Stransky, motor racing legend Gugu Zulu, Supercycling presenter Owen Hannie, Top Billing presenter and heartthrob Janez Vermeiren, Hello Doctor presenter Michael Mol and Letshego Moshoeu who is attempting to be the first black female to complete the race. The footage gathered will be used in the daily television highlights, daily World of Heroes online edits and for highlights shows after the race.

GoPro cameras will also be used for the finish line live stream which can be seen at cape-epic.com throughout the week of the race. Several of the other behind-the-scenes projects will also be shot using GoPro cameras to highlight the fact that GoPro is the world's most versatile camera!

GoPro will once again make use of stunning aerial footage using the flypics.co.za crew. They have built a quadcopter that is gyro stabilised specifically for GoPro cameras. The amazing stability of the quadcopter makes the footage stand out among other aerial work. "It is a real challenge getting extremely stable footage from a quadcopter using such a lightweight camera," says Graham Newton, owner of Flypics.co.za. "We designed a unique stabilisation module that combined with the 1080p narrow Field of View (FOV) on the GoPro HERO3 eliminates the "Jello" effect common to quadcopters."

The unsung heroes of the Cape Epic are the riders that live in tents and still ride every day. So many top teams choose to stay in campers or guest house accommodation making it a lot easier to cope with the strains of the race. To celebrate and reward the best riders in the race village, GoPro is proud to launch the #RaceVillageHERO campaign. Each day the five category leaders (Men, Ladies, Mixed, Masters and Grand Masters) will receive a GoPro merchandise pack and be announced in the Chill zone at 5pm. The five overall leading teams in each category that are living in tents at the end of the week will each receive a GoPro HERO3 Black Edition valued at R5299 each!

Omnico is also proud to support the World Wildlife Foundation through the GoPro brand. Rhino Raid is a game created by the WWF that aims to highlight the plight of the rhino and gather funds to help conservation efforts. The "rad" moment of the day is a user contributed moment caught on film with any device and submitted to GoPro at the Absa Cape Epic race village during the race. Daily winners will be announced and the best clips will be used in the GoPro World of Heroes daily edits. The overall winners will be the proud owner of a GoPro HERO3 camera!
