Wildlife photographer exhibition for SA

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, organised by the Natural History Museum of London and BBC Wildlife Magazine, will be exhibited for the very first time in South Africa during July, August and September 2007.

The competition is an international showcase for the very best photography worldwide featuring natural subjects which emphasise the beauty, wonder and importance of the natural world. Since its inception in 1964, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition draws in thousands of entries, and in 2006 the organisers received over 18 000 entries from 20 countries.

This world-class exhibition includes 94 photographs, across 12 categories, and offers insights into the beauty of natural landscapes and intimate animal behaviour. It is an exhibition that has captured world attention and inspires wildlife photographers every year to seek out that prize-winning photographic shot which is often based on a combination of skill, vision, knowledge of nature and luck.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, sponsored by Animal Planet, will be exhibited in Cape Town 10 – 29 July 2007 at Workshop 17, V&A Waterfront; in Durban 4 – 25 August at the uShaka Marine World and then at Durban Wild Talk Africa Film Festival, 30 August ICC Durban; and in Johannesburg 5 – 20 September (venue to be confirmed).

Tickets can be bought at the door. Entrance fee is R30 per person, R20 for concessions (pensioners, students and under 18's), and under fives go free.
