2003/4 South African Music Industry Directory open for submissions

The Midi Trust announced today that submissions are open for inclusion in the music industry handbook - the 2003/4 Music Industry Directory.

Now in its 5th edition, the South African Music Industry Directory covers over 19 categories of services related to the music industry - from Record Companies, Retail, Studio/Production, Marketing/Promotion, Education, Public/Private Organisations to Media.

Submissions are free for artists, educators, venues, industry organisations and the media. Companies and professional services will pay a fee of R80 for a single submission, and R55 per submission for two or more.

The closing date for submissions is 28 February 2003 with the directory going on sale in June 2003.

"The South African Music Industry Directory is proving to be an increasingly vital tool for anyone already in the sector, or those with ambitions to enter into it," commented Rosie Katz of The MIDI Trust, "The publication is a comprehensive set of contacts covering the length and breadth of South Africa service providers, artists, corporations and organisations."

Sporting a streamlined design and effective categorisation of services, the new edition will be easier to use than ever before, and continue on its quest to provide the essential music industry handbook.

Since its inception, the directory has increased the number of entities listed more than five fold, and is now used by over 3000 industry professionals for up-to-date information. Last year over 3000 copies were distributed through The MIDI Trust directly.

Added Katz, "The Directory is at a stage where it can be pushed out to interested international parties who are looking for South African music artists and service offerings. It has already made an impact in connecting our community in the short time it has been available, and I would recommend that everyone in the music industry ensure they are listed."

Music Africa is a co-publisher of the directory and some funding has been made available by the Department of Arts & Culture and the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund.

Submission forms are available for download from The MIDI Trust website at www.miditrust.co.za.
