Miss World beauties to assist at FIFA Confederations Cup draw

FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke will be able to count on the Miss World contestants currently in South Africa for assistance during the draw for next year's FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa on Saturday, 22 November 2008.

During the 50-minute live show on SABC 1 (17h00 CET+1) at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, the eight Miss World candidates from the respective participating countries and continents will lend a helping hand during the draw to determine the two groups for the eight-team competition.

“Hosting as prestigious an event as the Miss World competition again underlines South Africa's ability to stage major global events. And as for the beautiful contestants assisting me on Saturday, it's certainly a draw I will be looking forward to more than most,” said the FIFA Secretary General, who will conduct the draw.

The line-up of draw assistants consists of Miss Brazil Tamara Almeida Silva, Miss Egypt Sanaa Ismail Hamed, Miss Italy Claudia Russo, Miss New Zealand Kahurangi Julia Taylor, Miss South Africa Tansey Coetzee, Miss Spain Patricia Yurena Rodríguez Alonjo, Miss United States Mercia Lane Lindell and reigning Miss World Zilin Zhang, who will represent Asian champions Iraq.

The 58th Miss World pageant will be held at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 13 December 2008. The draw results will be published on: www.FIFA.com/southafrica2009.
