A specialist IT Solutions company with its footprint in the development of bespoke software applications for enterprise, enabling businesses to achieve the solutions they envision have a vacancy for an intermediate database administrator to provide advanced level database optimisations, maintenance, best practices and standards, high availability, altering and recovery and adhering to security standards.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
• Provide administration of database systems including installation, upgrades, configuration, migration, consolidation, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance
• Testing new versions of the database management system (DBMS)
• Set up, maintain reporting and data integration processes using SSRS, SSIS and SSAS
• Set and administer standards for overall organisation's SQL Server relational database structure / architecture
• Oversee all data generated, monitor server transaction speeds, and look for any service degradation in speeds due to SQL fragmentation or lack on maintenance
• Manage and optimise databases using PostgreSQL and MS SQL, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
• Develop and enforce database standards, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Six-plus years of experience in database administration with a strong focus on PostgreSQL and MS SQL.
