PR Account Manager

Primary responsibility

Provide senior-level account planning, implementation, and oversight of several accounts and projects, based on an excellent understanding of the client’s business.

Purpose of the role

To drive team excellence and deliver outstanding client services by:

• Developing and implementing client strategies
• Demonstrating excellent financial management skills
• Coaching staff and controlling expenses to meet client objectives

Key responsibilities

• Develop key relationships with clients beyond just managing their business
• Draft public relations strategies for clients
• Manage multiple clients and ongoing projects based on billings
• Ensure clear communication of the client’s strategic and operational requirements to the team
• Manage the team to ensure deliverables are met according to client briefs
• Write and edit materials including client press releases, articles, social media content plans, and reports
• Take a leadership role in new business development and proposal creation
• Manage client meetings and project reports
• Oversee high-standard reporting, including status reports, call reports, feedback reports, and campaign reports
• Monitor income from all client accounts in collaboration with the account director, ensuring cost: income ratios are maintained
• Drive recruitment and staff development
• Manage the performance of account managers and other direct business reports
• Create clear personal development plans (PDPs) for direct reports in collaboration with the account director

Knowledge and experience

• Diploma or degree in communications or public relations
• At least five years of public relations experience
• Proven experience as an account manager at an agency
• Broad exposure to skills including proposal planning, writing, media relations, and social media
• Proven track record in business growth
• Direct experience in team building and management
• Strong background in campaign, event, media, and social media management
• Excellent relationship management and financial skills
